With the continued growth of the league this year, we are expecting a record number of teams (around 37–38 total). Because of that, we needed to adjust the scheduling format so we can keep the season organized and avoid having to move teams up or down divisions before the season even starts.
Here is the simple version of how the season will work:
• Each team will play two games per week.
• Opponents will generally be based on current standings, so teams will usually play other teams around the same level.
• The next week’s schedule will be set after the previous week’s games are completed.
• This allows the league to keep games more competitive and balanced as the season progresses.
Division play nights will remain mostly the same:
Upper Division
• Games will be played on Wednesday and Thursday.
• The top half of the standings will usually play Thursday, and the bottom half will usually play Wednesday.
Lower Division
• Games will primarily be played on Tuesday.
• Monday or Friday may be used if needed for overflow or makeup games.
The goal of this format is simple:
• Keep games competitive
• Avoid forcing teams into higher divisions before the season starts
• Allow teams to move up or down during the season based on results
One other thing we are aware of is that some teams have players who participate on multiple teams. The board will do the best possible to ensure those teams do not play each other or play at the same time, using the extra weekly field slots we have available. While we cannot guarantee every situation will work perfectly, we will make every effort to accommodate those conflicts.
We will send the schedule for the first week soon. After that, each week’s schedule will be released once the current week’s games are completed.
Thanks again to all of you for helping make this one of the largest seasons our league has had.
We will answer any questions at the meeting next week. Your attendance is strongly encouraged.
